Solving problems is a knack I’m lucky enough to have. One of the biggest problems I recently needed to solve was changing careers after being in the restaurant business for 12-years. I was a server and loved my job. That’s because I like working with people, making friends, and brightening someone’s day when they needed a lift.

The fast pace of serving suits my personality. I enjoy being busy and working hard. But, when COVID hit, I was out of a job. What would I do? I was lucky enough to have a good friend who works for Homestead Financial Mortgage. She said they were hiring an administrative assistant.

Since I’m a fast learner, I had confidence that I could switch gears and be successful. I quickly aced that position and moved up to being a loan closer. As a closer, I made sure everything was ready for the loan to close and fund. Although closing is the last step in the process – it’s the most important. No borrower remembers their outstanding service or low rate if their loan closes late – or doesn’t close at all. With my eye for detail, I made sure my loans closed on time, and the borrowers were thrilled.

Now, I’m lucky enough to be a loan advisor. Instead of working on the closing, I start at the beginning with the borrowers and help them through the entire process. So once again, I’m helping people. But now, I help them financially by getting them an outstanding home loan.
